Biosolids are a valuable by-product of the wastewater treatment process as they have a high nutrient value and can act as a soil conditioner. When treated in accordance with EPA Guidelines, biosolids pose minimal risk during agricultural land application.
In Victoria, an EPA endorsed Environmental Improvement Plan (EIP) is required for land application of biosolids as it ensures safety of the public, the environment and all persons involved.
